How to make a flyer (free, step by step)
Start from a flyer template, write one headline that says what's on offer, add a date or deadline and one call to action, and put your address, phone and a QR code at the bottom. Download it as a PDF and print on letter (8.5 × 11 in) or half-letter paper, or post it as an image.
1. Decide the one thing it's for
A flyer that tries to say everything gets read by no one. Pick one job: a sale, an event, a new service or an opening.
2. Write it in this order
- Headline: the offer or event in a few words.
- One or two lines of detail: what, when, where.
- Call to action: call, visit, scan, book.
- Contact details and a QR code at the bottom.
3. Design for a glance
- Big headline, high contrast.
- One strong photo or illustration instead of several small ones.
- Plenty of empty space around the text.
4. Print or post
Download a PDF for printing (letter or half-letter in the US, A4 or A5 elsewhere) or a PNG for social media and messages. Add bleed if colour runs to the edge; CatalogProFlow templates already include it.
Questions
- What should a flyer include?
- A headline, a short detail line, a date or deadline, one call to action and your contact details or a QR code.
- Can I make a flyer for free?
- Yes. Edit any flyer template free without an account, then download a PNG with a free account. A print-ready PDF comes with Pro or as a one-time download.
- What's the best paper for flyers?
- 100 lb gloss text paper (about 150 gsm) is a common choice for handouts; heavier card suits counter displays.
