A sign does the talking when no one's free to: grocery stores and neighbourhood markets use them on shelves, at the entrance and in shopping bags to point families and weekly shoppers to a weekly deal on fresh produce. Edit it free online, then download or print it.

How grocery stores and neighbourhood markets use this sign

Use signs for opening hours, directions, offers and rules. A sign is read from a distance, often while walking, so it needs very few words in very large type. Worth including: local suppliers and fresh deliveries.

Show the price per unit or weight next to the pack price, and keep sale prices in one bright colour. Test it: step back the distance people will read it from and check the main line is still clear.

What to put on it

  • A headline that can be read from across the room
  • A weekly deal on fresh produce
  • An arrow, date or time if it helps
  • Your logo, small
