Grades are a rough guide based on the US system; match the level to what your students are working on, whatever the curriculum.
Making practice that sticks
- Short and frequent beats long and rare: 10–15 problems a day does more than 60 on Friday.
- Mix in a few problems from earlier skills so students keep practising them.
- Start with two or three worked examples at the top for new skills.
- Use the quiz from the same kit as a quick check before moving on.
- Let students mark their own work with the key sometimes; it shows them where they went wrong straight away.
Differentiation in one minute
- Make the same skill at introductory, standard and advanced levels and hand out the right one to each group.
- Print the fact cards from the kit for students who need more practice with number facts.
- Give early finishers the advanced sheet or the homework page.
Using the answer key well
- Mark a few problems together as a class before students check their own.
- Look for the same wrong answer across several students: it usually points to one step to reteach.
- Keep the answer pages in a separate folder so they don't go home by mistake.
