How to make numbered raffle tickets

Start from a raffle ticket template, replace the sample number with {{Number}} on both the ticket and the stub, then paste a column of numbers (0001, 0002…) from a spreadsheet into Bulk create. You get one ticket per number, each with a matching stub.

What goes on a raffle ticket

PartWhat to include
Ticket (buyer keeps)Event or raffle name, draw date and time, prize or prizes, price, organiser, ticket number
Stub (you keep)Ticket number, buyer's name and phone number
Small printWhere and when the draw happens, how winners are contacted, any licence or registration number

The CatalogProFlow raffle ticket is 5.5 × 2 in with the stub on the left and “No. 0001” on both parts, ready for you to number.

Number the tickets

  • In Excel or Google Sheets, type Number in cell A1, then 1 in A2, and fill down to as many tickets as you need.
  • For leading zeros (0001), use a second column with =TEXT(A2,"0000") and copy that column instead.
  • In the ticket design, click each “No. 0001” and change it to “No. {{Number}}”.
  • Open Bulk create, paste the column (with the Number heading), and check the preview.
  • Download PNG images free (one per ticket in a .zip), or one printable PDF of all tickets with Pro or Business.
  • Each batch takes up to 300 rows. For 1,000 tickets, run 0001–0300, 0301–0600 and so on.

Printing and cutting

  • Print shops can print tickets on card and add perforation between the stub and the ticket, which makes tearing neat.
  • The PDF has one ticket per page at ticket size; a print shop lays them out on sheets and cuts them.
  • Use a different paper colour for each event or price level so tickets don't get mixed up.
  • Keep the stubs in number order in an envelope or box for the draw.

Check the rules before you sell

Raffles and lotteries are regulated in many places. In the US, rules vary by state and many states require nonprofits to register or hold a licence; the UK, Canada, Australia and other countries have their own rules on who can run a raffle and what must appear on a ticket. Check with your local authority or regulator before you print and sell tickets.

Event tickets too

The same method works for admission tickets, drink tokens and numbered coupons: put {{Number}}, {{Seat}} or {{Table}} where they go and paste the list. For school concerts, galas and fundraisers, the ticket gallery has event, VIP and tear-off designs.

Running the draw

  • Tear off and keep every stub as tickets are sold; put them in one container.
  • Draw in public at the time printed on the ticket, with a witness if you can.
  • Read out the number and check it against the stub before announcing a winner.
  • Contact winners who aren't present using the phone number on the stub, and record who won what.

Questions

How do I number raffle tickets automatically?
Type {{Number}} where the number goes, make a numbered column in a spreadsheet, and paste it into Bulk create. Each row becomes a ticket with that number on both the ticket and the stub.
What size is a raffle ticket?
Sizes vary; this template is 5.5 × 2 in with a stub on the left. Many printed raffle tickets are around that size or smaller.
What information should be on a raffle ticket stub?
The ticket number and the buyer's name and phone number, so you can contact the winner.
Do I need a licence to run a raffle?
Often, yes. Rules vary by US state and by country, especially for fundraising raffles. Check with your local regulator before selling tickets.
